VON Canada is a great little microcosm of the Canadian VoIP industry.

I saw all the usual suspects: Jon Arnold, Ron Guria, Alec Saunders, Howard Thaw, Tony Rybczynski, Helene Joncas, Carl Ford and Jeff Pulver (of course, it was his show after all).

I even had a chance to hook up with several of my buddies from previous Nortel projects. I had dinner with Bob Myers, formerly CTO and co-founder of Chantry Networks and Fadi Samara, now VP Professional Services at Sigma Systems the cableco OSS provider. Fadi brought his friend John Stuart who provided fresh insights into the Toronto real estate market and the goings on at Telus Mobility where he is the program manager for Local Number Portability for the CDMA operator.

I also had a chance to connect with Luc Roy, VP PLM at Siemens.

Most interesting discussions around dual mode services, the efficiencies of WiFi spectrum consumption and the role of mobile operators.
