is the famous Swiss graphic designer (1914-1996) and teacher. In 1943 he married the violinist Verena Brockmann and assumed the name Josef Müller-Brockmann. His auspicious career as a visual creator, poster designer, advertising innovator spanned sixty years and included numerous awards, books and commissions both in his native Switzerland, around Europe, Russia, Japan and the United States.

He is well-known as a designer of poster art, and worked as a consultant for IBM through the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Considered a leader in the highly modern, reductive style associated with the Swiss design ethic best represented by the tri-lingual journal 'New Graphic Design' that he had founded. He was strongly influenced by Constructivism.
